Space to get away from it all, to create, to socialize, to learn new skills, to pass on crafts.
These are the objectives of the Llanfairfechan community shed, a new group in the village aiming to bring people together over practical projects. At the heart of our ambition is acting in kind; that is, sharing resources and experience rather than expecting things for free.
We welcome and are working with groups such as the Men’s Sheds and Youth Shedderz, but you don’t have to fit into one of these groups in order to be part of the community shed. Our aim is to build an environment where everybody feels valued and there is safe space for those who need it. To us the community aspect of the project is more important than the physical workspace.
After an encouraging first meeting, we’d like you to get involved! What do you want to see us do? Can you bring a skill to the table? We’re hoping to run a launch day soon with taster sessions in some of the activities the shed could provide – that could be anything from digital design to woodwork.
