It seems this year is the year of the Lords, with both Green Party Baronesses having now been for a visit to the wonderful place we call home. North Wales.
North Wales was also the home of the Wales Green Party conference this year, which was great to attend, and a thank you to everyone who did.
Natalie Bennett and Anthony Slaughter visited, arranged by Martin Schwaller, for a Talk & Q&A, which went down to a great success in Llangoed village hall.
At the heart of North Wales in Snowdonia in the village of Llanberis is where we have targetted our campaigns this year with Dewi our candidate standing in the council elections and achieving a very respectable 2nd place which we were all very pleased with. It was an excellent campaign helped by Wales Green Party Volunteers and not forgetting the fantastic community support also.
I am proud of all the dedication our volunteers and committee have put in the last year and how well we are working closer with North East Wales since the general election campaign.
We have a lot to plan for the future, such as our Senedd Election in 2026, where we are fundraising currently to help us stand candidates and the next Council Elections in 2027.
We know people want the change, and I see that one of the biggest challenges this next year is raising awareness of the potential loss of public services such as housing, dentists, libraries and public toilets if we don’t start to get the money funding from Senedd and beyond.
We need to spread the knowledge that we need better wealth equality, which affects all layers of politics and everyone’s pockets.
Most importantly, to need to ensure that minority groups such as the refugees that Croeso Menai our Guest Speakers at the AGM support are not laid to blame for the lack of investment we have as a country.
Some aspects we have improved on this year are fundraising, having created this ticketed event, and we will soon be launching a crowdfunder for the Senedd Elections. For the next term, I feel we need to ensure we speak to our members more on the phone for maximum engagement.
To do this, we rely on volunteers, so if you can spare a couple of hours a month to ensure we can run our local party, we would greatly appreciate it.
Finally, I’d like to note what an honour it is to chair and be part of the North West Wales Green Party and thanks once again for everyone’s dedication, time and commitment. Diolch Yn Fawr Pawb.
